Dr. Potts is the chief of surgery at MVT General, overseeing not only anal reconstructions but all other issues. While human surgeons rarely perform the work themselves, and are instead assisted by more precise synthetics and robotic devices, they create the surgery plans and oversee their success. Dr. Potts is responsible for approving each and every surgery plan and, on occasion, plans some of the hospital's more complex surgeries himself.

Dr. Potts controls an aptitude for medicine. There is hardly anything that he doesn't know about. He is frequently successful in his approach to how he handle day-to-day matters. He always makes healthy choices. He has class and style in excess. He has a gift for the areas of math and science.

Dr. Potts likes outdoor activities, a good dramatic film, and reading non-fiction books. He doesn't like subjecting himself to war movies, subjecting himself to action movies, or listening to country music. When it comes to playing Plague Inc.: The Board Game, highlighting memorable excerpts from Surely You're Joking Mr. Feynman, and watching a screening of The American President Dr. Potts is routinely happy.

A patient has never been lost under Dr. Potts's watch—even during the Poopmueller incident, though that is largely attributable to the brave actions of Hal Gainsworth, Nurse Allison Kheliotrope, Globot Ruby, and Globot Raye.
