HGD standard synthetics are known for the unique personalities that are consistent with their model types. Hilmer is the man responsible for formulating the seed data that shapes each personality and sense of decorum for each model. He considers his work more of an art than a science which, in essence, means that he's not a stickler for precision. He creates seed data that will evolve into predictable and consistent rules to guide the personalities and interests of the standard synthetics but leaves plenty of room for operational versatility. It's obviously science, but as the resident expert he can be forgiven for calling it whatever he likes.

Hilmer is very smart and competent. He is exceptionally clever and is an exemplary tapdancer. He has an overstated self-opinion. He knows a lot about technology and engineering and, generally speaking, how things work. He is proficient in math and science.

Hilmer loves getting other people's opinions before forming his own, likes dancing to hip hop music likes, and is keen on reading non-fiction books. On the other hand, he doesn't care for working out at the gym, watching war movies, or reading any kind of autobiographical material. Hilmer is excited by the prospect of scarfing down mooncakes, watching the next episode of Self Made: Inspired by the Life of Madam C.J. Walker, and re-reading The Death of Superman as part of his regular rhythm.
